This week

I was SO sick this week. I can't remember the last time I had a head cold that was that bad. Of course Brian was out of town, so I didn't get a break. On Monday night I couldn't take it anymore, so I put all 3 kids to bed at 7:00 (good thing they can't tell time yet!) and I think my head hit the pillow at about 7:30. I paid for it the next morning when they all woke up early, but it was worth it!

Needless to say I didn't work out all week, except for Monday with my trainer. Which was the right decision, to let my body heal...but my 10 mile run this morning was a bit harder than usual. I don't know if I'm just worn out from the crappy week, or if it's because I didn't do any speed/hill workouts midweek, or just a bad day - most likely a combo of all 3. But the run is done...and we ran the whole thing - with one minor stop...which I won't mention why, but if you know me well, I've complained about it a lot!

Ellie started baseball this week (please don't call it t-ball ;o) She did AWESOME! She didn't freeze up at all and did every drill just as Coach Courtney asked {sidenote - she kept saying "I want to be a boy so I can play baseball, over and over...so I was SO glad that her coach ended up being a girl. She finely believed me that girls can play baseball!} At the beginning of practice the kids sat down and coach asked them to say her name and their favorite animal. Ellie says "my name is Squints and my favorite animal is a giraffe!" Brian and I cracked up...and what was even cooler, her coach recognized the movie reference :o) The battery on my camera was dead, so I'll get pics next week - its way too hard to get "action shots" with a camera phone.

Alison had her 1st field trip on Friday to BonnieSprings and then to a park for lunch. I didn't go because Brooke is at that age where she doesn't want to be in a stroller, but doesn't listen to direction well enough to let her walk around (she HATES holding my hand). I didn't want her to be a disruption to the whole class, so we passed on the field trip. Since it's a private school, there are no buses - parents just volunteer to drive the kids...well on the way to the park, Alison threw up all over some guys car. I had a hair appointment in about 20 minutes, so I made Brian go get her...and take the other girls. He said he talked to the teacher and got out of there as fast as he could. Brian and I had a hot date planned for that night, but cut it short due to the sick kid.
dinner out and movie in are more our style anyways I suppose ;o)

Brian was in Reno from Sunday till Thursday night. He worked really hard while he was there (pulled 2 all nighters) to get his upgrades done a day early, so he could spend Friday with us. It worked out well, because he could watch Ellie play baseball for the first time AND I was able to squeeze in a hair appt. I told Jen, that I had no idea what I wanted, but it was time for a change. I wanted to try to keep the length (I've been growing it out for 8 months) but it needed a "style". I'd had it in a ponytail way too much. I told her she had free reign to do what she wanted (except color because I couldn't afford it) And this is what she gave me:

It was kind of hard to do the bangs myself today (I haven't had bangs since I was probably 5!) but I like the change.

I felt like an awful mother this week...lots of sitting around watching movies and eating less than healthy dinners, but I've got my act together now...and menu planning is on the to-do list today. When I was wallowing in my misery I came across this quote "God has a plan for your children, and you can't mess it up." So there is hope for them, in spite of me this week...I suppose 1 week of a less than active Mama won't kill them...and neither will The Sandlot for the 100th time or pizza for dinner!

  1. I LOVE the hair. It is so cute, and it really makes your face look great! No more pony tails, really?!?

And by the way you are a great mom. You took care of 3 girlies by yourself while totally sick this week, even with movies and unhealthy dinners you still get a mommy gold star! Good job.

  7. The haircut is adorable!!

Do you think Ellie has found "her thing"? Maybe it's good because Alison doesn't play baseball.

I'm glad you are feeling better. Wish I were closer to help out at times like that.

    Love you,

    Mom
