It's DONE!

Quilt #1 is done. Like I have said before, its not how I had planned from the beginning, BUT... I love it! I washed it this morning, and its all snuggly now. For now, I'm keeping it on the chair upstairs.

Front
The orange and red look a lot alike on my moniter, but irl it's very different.
Back
The black fabric actually has tiny polka dots on it. I love the contrast between all the color and the black and white.
It's pretty hard to actually "quilt" a blanket. The quilting blogs make it look so easy! Its also a lot more time consuming than I thought to hand bind. I definitely will be getting a thimble next time. I think I have a permanent bruise on my finger from pushing that needle!
Here is the pile waiting for me. If you've ever been to my house, you know about the big teal wall. This next quilt will be for downstairs and will match the teal colors down there.
The plain fabric on the left is actually dark brown, although it looks black.

  3. it looks so great! Grandma Dimitriadis always quilted. in fact she was working on a quilt when she died and my mom had always wanted to finish it but never did.

I want to learn how to quilt too. you're so good at teaching yourself how to do things. you quilt you take good pictures, you make good food, you're like super mom.

maybe I'll ask for a sewing machine for mother's day
