Another Week in California

Well blogger is acting up again and wont let me add pictures this morning. But I thought that I better get the thoughts out before my pregnant brain forgets them! Im thinking of switching to typepad - is it worth the $5 a month?

Thursday
*We went to gymnastics where Alison got her first Valentine, and she was so excited (it has since been cut up into pieces - the joys of a toddler figuring out scissors)
*Out to lunch at "the place with the stars" = Carls Jr. It pretty much grosses me out that they have chicken shaped like stars, but we rarely eat there, so its a good treat for Al.
*Then we were off to California. (Brian was on call, so he stayed behind) We no longer have a DVD player, but luckly my girls are great travelers and we arrived without a tear.
*When we arrived at my Mom's house there was a box waiting for me and one for the girls. Brian sent me roses and the most wonderful card. The most I ever get in a card is "Love, Brian" but he actually wrote in this one - needless to say, it made me cry. Brian doesn't "do" flowers and he certainly doesn't "do" love notes, so this was BIG. The other box, also from Dad was some candy and stuffed animals for the girls. I didn't even know he was mailing them anything, so it was a nice surprise for all of us. YOU DID GOOD THIS YEAR B. Even though we weren't together, it was one of my best Valentines days ;o)
*The girls also got hooked up with candy from every person they saw.

Friday
* I met an old high school friend for breakfast. This is one of those friends that I keep in touch with over email, but don't see very often in person. But when we do, its like we left off where we were last time. So easy to talk to and so much like me. It just makes me wish we could afford to move home even more. She just had her 3rd baby and I got to hold baby Mayah. Now I can't wait formy little one to get here. I forget how tiny they are.
* A family friend (My parents have been friends with her for at least 35 years) died on Monday, so we attended the funeral Friday. As far as funerals go, it wasn't too bad. All of her kids spoke and some grandkids and they tried to keep it light and tell funny stories. It still sucked though.

Saturday
*I have been waiting a year for this day. We went to the Pantages theater to see Wicked. If you like musicals, you will LOVE this. I think it was my favorite out of all of them (and I have been to most of the major musicals) It was so funny and the girls' voices were amazing. I think Brian would have even liked it. (he has only admitted to liking a couple - Lion King being one of them)

Sunday
*We broke out the sewing machine (that I have never used since my Mom got it for me for Christmas 2 years ago) and I learned how to make burp rags. I thought I would start with something small and easy. So now I have really cute burp cloths for the baby to puke all over. My Dad thought it made no sense, but I like them. We finished a couple and last night I did 2 more.

Monday
*Drove home. Ellie was not in the mood to be in her seat, so that was a bit difficult. My brother didn't get a chance to see the girls the whole weekend, so he called me and said he'd pay me to stay another day. I love how much he loves them :o)

The next trip isn't scheduled until April (for my shower) so I get a bit of a traveling break. Its always fun while Im there, but Im so beat when I get home. Its hard to have the kids off their schedule for almost a week. The girls will be going back for a week in 2 weeks, which will be wierd. I have never been home without them for that long. Brians Mom is coming to get them after Brians surgery, just to give is a break and help out. So grateful for that!

  1. Sounds like a nice weekend! I can't wait to see the pics of the burp cloths. That will be nice to have the girls gone while Brian is recovering. I'm sure you will miss them tons though!

  3. now that you mention it - star shaped chicken does sound pretty gross.
glad you got to go see wicked. i have a hard time with musicals if i don't know the music.
i like typepad for a few reasons, one of them is when you are leaving a comment you can scroll up if you forgot some things, like i just did.

  4. Sounds like a good weekend. As for the pictures on here I think I have only used the blogger upload once... I usually just use an HTML link from photobucket/ myspace.

That is sweet that Brian sent stuff to Mary's place. Jim gave me a card about a week before valentines cause he had already written in it and couldn't wait to give it to me. Poor Jim, I didn't even get him a card. Our minds are just elsewhere this year.

I want to learn to sew! Grandpa gave me a sewing machine that was in his garage or something, but I don't know how to use a sewing machine.
