2. For our preschool this week our topic is Chinese New Year:
All about Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is a holiday that celebrates the beginning of a new year according to the lunar calendar. It is considered to be one of the most important holidays for Chinese families.
The holiday is celebrated with big family gatherings, gift giving, the eating of symbolic foods and display of festive decorations--all focused on bringing good luck for the new year and celebrating the coming of Spring.

We made paper lanterns, and colored chinese symbols of The Year of The Rat. We learned about the qualities of people born under the year of the rat, and colored a paper about it. We borrowed a book at the library about the story of Chinese New Year, and tomorrow we are making dragon puppets. (we were going to have chinese food one night, but I know they wont eat it. Maybe stir fry or teriyaki bowls will do)
3. Alison started gymnastics at Brown's and loved it. The have an all day class on Presidents day, that we might do...Ill see how she feels about being there all day.
4. Alison is all about wanting to write songs. Today she sang me one about a girl and her peanut-butter and jelly sandwich. (and she has them written down...she wouldn't let me take a picture, but they look very similar to her love notes to Dad)
5. This is Alison using the doormat as a cookie sheet and the paper are her cookies. "It's not a mess! It's cookies".
6. I saw some red spots on Ellie's head the other day and got a little worried. They were round and crusty, so I thought she might have picked up a bacterial infection or something. I called my Mom and described them to her, but she hadn't seen anything like it and said to watch them, and if they didn't get better to take her to the doctor. Well that night I gave her a bath and ITS A MIRICLE - they're gone!...OK maybe not a miricle, maybe it was spaghetti sauce from the night before...just maybe.
7. I went to the OB yesterday and everything is good. For a multitude of reasons we have decided to be induced on May 16th. (Unless I go into labor naturally before that of coarse). That is one week early, so I guess now I only have 99 days left. And Jeff won't have to share his birthday with anyone! I had a bit of sugar in my pee, so they are skipping the regular glucose test and going stright for the three hour test...YUCK I hate those gross drinks. I am screwed if I do have gestational diabetes because ALL I EAT is pasta, fruit and sugary stuff. I am so not a meat eater when Im pregnant.
*long post + no spell chck = many mistakes Please forgive me ;O)
It's the little things that are the best.
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear Alison likes gymnastics. Cute little lanterns. What a good mom you are for doing that with them.
You are such a good Mom....so nice that you can be home. I wish I were there to find out more about the Chinese New Year. Maybe Alison can explain it to me when she comes.
ReplyDeleteAlison would be a natural for gymnastics since she is so petite.
Glad the "spots" are gone, and glad you aren't a panicey mom, how embarrasing to take her to the doctor and have him rub them off!!
