Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving day didn't go as planned, but the rest of the weekend went well.

THURSDAY
Thank goodness we had a real Thanksgiving meal on Sunday because Thursday was a bust.

~I woke up with the kids and got them fed. As soon as Brian woke up I went for a run. I forgot my ipod and it was raining.
~I got home, took a shower and Brian was dressed for work. He was on call, and had to go to Bullhead Az. He left at 11 and got home about 3. (at least he brought me a paper with all the ads :o)
~While he was gone, I made stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy. I decided against making a turkey since it would really be only Brian and I eating any of the meal. I got some turkey breast from Smith's deli but it ended up being pretty dry. (Next time I will do a turkey no matter what, even if it's a small one)
~I did the dishes while Dad played Candyland with the girls

FRIDAY
~It was my day to sleep in but it didn't happen, so at 7:30 I went shopping. I got most of it done except for a few things for B and Ellie.
~I came home, showered and we all went up to Mt Charleston to *play* in the snow. It had rained really hard during the week, and the mountains were really white. When we got up there though, there was barely any snow. We drove over to Lee Canyon and it was a little better. I'm not a cold weather person so I hung out in the car with Booklynn. The other girls and Dad made a snowman and put snowballs on the antenna of the truck.
~After getting home and making lunch I went out shopping again. I wanted to check Pottery Barn Kids for a dollhouse. The $700 dollhouse was on sale for $600, what a bargain. But...Gap was right next door, so Brooklynn and I headed over to see what was on sale. Sweaters, that's it. We still bought a few things for Alison for her birthday and some jeans for me that were on clearance (the ones that I L-O-V-E were still at $88, so I passed on them until I lose more inches and have more money!)
~That evening I made dinner and we decorated the inside of the house. Brian helped put up the tree, Alison put on the star and her and Ellie helped me decorate it.
~While trimming the tree we had The Polar Express on, so we finished up watching that with hot chocolate.
SATURDAY
~Brian spent most of the day putting up Christmas lights outside. The only reason he stopped is because he ran out of lights. Our yard looks amazing and I love that he likes to do it. The kids love it too :o)
~Brian had to work again so the girls and I went to the gym. I ran 5.1 miles and headed home. No extra lifting that day.
~I spent most of the day cleaning the house in preparation for a fundraiser on Monday night.
~After dinner, Brian and Alison went to Dick's to get the correct gun case. I had gotten the wrong one on his birthday and they were on sale this weekend.
~Ellie and I made some amazing banana muffins while they were gone, but they were thinking of us. Brian walked in with some huge Cinnabuns and a gallon of milk. MMMMMmmmmmm.
SUNDAY
~We went to church and stopped at Subway on the way home for Brian to get lunch. ~The girls and I ate leftovers at home. I did laundry, finished cleaning, and went food shopping.
~I put away the groceries and started prepping some dips and cleaning veggies for Monday.
~I used up all the mayo in the spinach dip, so we ran back to the store to get some (Brian needs it for his sandwiches for work) and to Target to get paper goods.
~After dinner, we all headed over to Ethel Ms chocolate factory to see the lights, get some hot chocolate and see Santa! Well Santa wasn't there that night, but the lights were still very cool.
And now that it's December...I don't feel at all silly about breaking out the Christmas jammies!

  3. It sounds like a fun week. The picture of Brooklynn looking at the tree reminds me of the one of Alison at her first Christmas with Santa's hands. I love the "wonder" on the face.
