She is LOVING school!!!
She participated in Spirit Week last week. Since her school goes all the way through High School, everyone participates in Homecoming week.
Monday was Super Hero Day - she wore her purple cape with the big "A" on the back
Tuesday was Character Day - She was Minnie Mouse
Wednesday was Cowgirl Day - she got a new purple shirt and some pink & brown cowboy boots!
Thursday was Class Color Day - Her class' color was Red, so she wore...wait for it...red.
Friday would have been School Colors Day - (which I don't understand because they wear a uniform every day which are always the school colors) anyway...Alison was not at school Friday because she went to Zion for a short trip with her Grandparents.
Friday was also the homecoming game. Every grade picks a Homecoming King and Queen to represent them on the field (well, the teachers & aids pick) This year the theme was to pick the kids that were the most "Christ-like". Kids who are good friends, loving, obey the rules, are good at sharing, do the right thing - even when its hard...and...wait for it...they picked ALISON!
I was SO PROUD of her. These are the exact qualities that I am trying so hard to instill in my kids, and it makes me so happy to see the little person Alison is becoming. Its nice to see her through other people's eyes (because I always think she is amazing ;o) and I'm extra happy that they see what a good heart she has.
It was sad to have to turn down the nomination though :o( She wasn't going to be in town for the game. I left it up to her which one she wanted to do - homecoming or Zion - and she said "I really really really want to wear a pretty dress and be a queen, BUT...it's Ellie's first time going to Zion and I really really really want to be there with her for her first time, and to show her all the trails." I told her it was a good choice and that was exactly why she was picked, because she thinks of others first. She got a huge smile and asks "Besides, there is always next year to be Homecoming Queen right Mom? And Ellie will never have another first time going to Zion." Hopefully there are many more years baby! I sure do love this kid!!!!
Wow, great job Alison!!
