Rest in Peace

The weekend before we went to California, we went to Arizona. Brian's Grandma had asked about seeing her great grandbabies. On Saturday morning we drove 4 hours to Prescott, visited with her at the nursing home for a little over a half hour, then went to check into our hotel, eat lunch, pack up some stuff at her house etc. On Sunday we went back to visit her again and then drove 6 hours to California. We *almost* didn't go...10 hours of driving for such a short visit, was it really going to be worth it with three kids in tow? Thank God we did go. Little Miss Brooklynn was the star of the nursing home and Great Grandma was SO happy to see all of the kids. Alison showed her all the pictures she'd drawn in her "journal" and Brooklynn smiled a smile that warms your heart, the way only babies can. Ellie was a little scared of the the nursing home but had fun doing puzzles in the common area. This morning Great Grandma passed away. I'm SO happy we made the time to visit and that, even if they don't remember, all the kids got to meet her.

  6. I have not been on blogger for a few days. I am sorry to hear about Brian's grandma. That is awesome that you were all able to go and see her a few weeks before she passed. I bet that made her day. I actually worked in a retirement home for 8 years (during high school and college) any time a kid vistited it made the day of all of the residents.
