Our 4th Of July Weekend

FRIDAY - we woke up bright and early to get to the gym when it opened. I ran 3.1 miles just to see if I could. Thursday night I got a call from my doctor that my foot was not broken and he isn't sure why it hurts so bad when I run. SO...I decided to just push through the pain for a while and see how I do before going to a specialist.

- As we were pulling into the driveway, Chad was pulling up with AJ. We babysat him until Nichole got off work later in the afternoon.

-Not long after that Cookie Grandma and Grandpa, Amy and Uncle David showed up!

-Mary went with me to go food shopping (and paid!)

-Brian worked a half day and was home when we got back from the store. He took all the big kids to the pool while Mary and I went to look for some shoes for Alison, Amy and Ellie. We went to Tilly's because I wanted to get my girls some flip flops with sparkly tops...but they didn't have any in their size. All the clearance was "take an additional 50% off" though, so Grandma bought Alison and Amy some clothes, me a pair of O'Neil jeans (for $5!!!) and she also bought me a new purse.

-Then we went to Target to look for more shoes...found some. We also got 2 dresses for Ellie (since she didn't get anything from Tilly's) and Gma bought Alison her backpack and lunchbox for school...I know it's early, but the cute ones go fast ;o)

-That night we took Mary and Loren out to dinner to celebrate their 40th anniversary!

-After we got home and put the kids to bed, Brian and I went out and had a few glasses of wine at the Hostile Grape.

SATURDAY - I was up by 5:30 and met Jamie, Darric and Dave for a 4t of July 5K race. I haven't ran in over 2 months, so I was a little worried about how I would do. My goal was under 30 minutes and I did it in 28:46...not too bad. It felt really good to be out and running again :o)

-Brian was gone when I got home. He left pretty early to go to Mt. Charleston to get us a campground. (last year we got there before lunch and ALL of them were taken) I packed up the food and we headed up to meet him.

-We spent most of the day up there, stopped at sonic on the way home and got home around 2:00. Everyone rested for a bit then while we were waiting for it to get dark, the girls did some sparklers, pop it's and snakes.

-Brooke went to bed and Brian did a fireworks show for us! It was pretty cool...and bright...and loud. (but Brooke slept right through all of it)

-Then the kids went up on the balcony to see some of the big professional fireworks, and were ready for bed without having to ask...they were pooped.

SUNDAY - Brian's family left about 7:00 and we got ready for church.

-After, Brian and Brooke went down for naps while Alison, Ellie and I went to get our nails done. I got ripped off (and will not be going back to that salon!) but the girls LOVED having their fingers and toes done.

it was a WONDERFUL holiday weekend!!!
