Today Is Thursday

*today at the gym I saw scrunchie socks...worse than the hair scrunchies i think. Ugh!

*My baby girl is walking ALL over! She now walks more than she crawls...kinda sad. I won't tell you what Brian said when we were talking about it last night, because it might just jinx me.

*I have decided to train for the Las Vegas Rock & Roll Marathon (note the lack of the word "half" in that sentence) Red Rock Running Company is having free training, so I'm going to take advantage of that. I do my first run with them Saturday morning at 6am. The run is the fun part...the fact that I lose my "sleep in day" is the sad part. Brian wasn't willing to give his up so I could run :oP It would be awesome if I had a running partner...anyone? anyone?

*I bought a curriculum and supplies to homeschool Ellie for preschool. I know in theory it should be easy, but I need someone to tell me what to do each day...I can't plan it all out myself. This program does that. It's only about 45 minutes a day, which I think we both can handle.

*We went to a new waterpark in Summerlin yesterday...now I know why those people pay such high HOA fees. It was beautiful. You have to have a Summerlin zip code to get in though (we went as "guests" of someone who is a member) Makes me *almost* wish we bought that house in Summerlin...or not.

*I started a new quilt last weekend - the other one I was working on bored me...and if it bores me when I'm making it, then I know I won't love it when it's done. It's way too much work to not love it! I joined a 9patch quilt-along...super easy patch, and we do one a day. Except that I do 7 in one day and nothing the other 6 - because that's how I roll.

Here are my 1st seven blocks - I think we are doing 70?! I am not good at keeping things straight, so I think I need to make them 6" squares rather than 6.5 which is what the directions say...but then I have to rework all the math for the sashing...maybe I'll just ask my Mom to do it ;o)

  1. I think I have used a lot of the same fabric as you lately. I have been sewing up a storm lately. New hot pads and a few bags and purses. 15 years ago I never would have thought that I would love to sew. I love picking out fabric more.

    Enjoy sewing Mandi!!

  5. i need you to help convert the measurements for the other quilt pieces - boarder, sashing - now that my blocks ar half an inch smaller than what the directions said to do. Your good at visualizing those kind of things :o)

  6. I'm jealous I wish I could sew as well as you have gotten. Maybe I should take a class did you take one? probably not you're good at picking things up on your own.

I want to make a quilt. and a million other things. what kind of foot thing do you use on your sewing machine? I need to go buy one because the only one I have has a single foot thing... do you use the one w/ 2feet on it?

  7. my machine doesn't have a walking foot or the 1/4"quilting foot (they dont make one for it) so I just use my regular foot and eyeball the 1/4" seam (although that could be why my squares are off.) The foot Im usung is just the regular one (kinda looks like a snakes tounge (sp?) the only other foot i have used is the zipper foot, when i made the pencil pouch for alison the other day...which was way asier than i thought it would be.

  9. I didn't realize Red Rock was doing that. I will have to look into it. I'm at 10 right now and I don't want to go down in miles so I may have to wait to join in with them.

Cool quilt! I wish I even understood what you were talking about!!
