Last night, Chad and crew came over for dinner. I had a menu planned out for the week (a rare occasion) already, so I just increased the quantities. Not to self: Don't try brand new recipes when you have people over!
Everything I made was something Ive never made before...Pork Ribs in the crock pot, PW's No Knead Yeast Rolls, and roasted potatoes and veggies with garlic dressing.
*I intended to have a salad, but the lettuce was nasty when I opened the bag (yes it was pre-done salad, but usually they are really good.
*The rolls would have been wonderful, but the bottoms burned (we just ate the tops anyway). Nothing like spending 5 hours on rolls to have them not turn out.
*The potatoes were slightly underdone
*The ribs turned out great though
So out of a 10, Id give the meal a 6. Everything would have been good if they came out right. Although it wasn't a disaster by any means. Chad loved everything and said he didn't notice it was messed up. What a nice little brother I have. Brian, well he made sure to notice everything :o)
At least you made the rolls from scratch! That says a lot :)
ReplyDeleteHey, you get plus!, plus! for making everything! Some times things just fail. It sounds like it was good anyway though.
ReplyDeleteDid you use a shiny pan for the rolls? A dark pan can be a problem.
Are you going to have the menus planned when I come???
Love ya'
Mom
Good job, even if it didn't all turn out! I'm sure it's getting harder to cook huh? Your countdown is getting slim, I'm so jealous!
ReplyDeleteGotta love the husbands, it seems they always see what was wrong, and not just great right.
ReplyDeleteOn your feet cooking and being ready to burst, what a nice sister to entertain the crowd. Pork ribs in a crock pot you usually can't go wrong with those, yummy....
a "6" for a homecooked meal is way better than take-out any day. good job for cooking.
ReplyDeletehaha Jim always has something to tell me on what to improve on food, I find it hilarious he's very picky. I agree a home cooked meal is better than take out no matter how it turns out really. I love trying new recipes..oooh I have a couple to give you that are REALLLY good. i'll post them on my blog, Jim's step mom made them.
