Vortex

Alison has been using the word "vortex" all afternoon. In the bath tonight, she named one of the toy fish Vortex, so I asked her if she knew what it meant. She said "It means a loud sound". I told her no its not a loud sound, but I didn't exactly know how to explain it. So when she got out of the tub, she asked her Dad.
He said "A vortex is a point in space that sucks everything up. Anything that is close, gets sucked in".
Then Alison says "That sounds like a straw to me."
