NYC - Day1

The start to our trip didn't go quite as planned...
We loaded the kids intot he car in their jammas and got dropped off at the airport by 6:30am.  We boarded the plane a little after 8.  Then there was a fight on the plane...security came and escorted them off.  Then one set of people came back on (after about 15 minutes), then we had to wait till they found the luggage of the guy that didn't get back on.  Finely we took off about 20 minutes late - but made up the time in the air.  It was about a 4 hour flight.

We arrived in Chicago and found out that we didn't have a pilot for the next leg, so our flight would be delayed...Not delayed long enough to go find Sue though.  (she was at the same airport, at the same time, different airline!) We went to eat and waited around.

We arrived in New York City a little over 2 hours after leaving Chicago and grabbed a cab to our hotel.
The hotel, The Roosevelt, was beautiful.  Very old, but very nice inside...Brian went to check us in and...they didn't have our room.  They had the reservation, but only had two full beds available not a King.  Ugh - Don't you people know that we flew 2,000 miles and have a whole week together with no kids?!  I repeat: a vacation with no kids! Full beds Will.Not.Work.   They agreed to change our room in the morning.  Brian asked what they could do to compensate us...and they gave us free breakfast for each of us every day we were staying (a $44/day value!).

We walked to a restaraunt called Zarela's for dinner...it was AMAZINGLY good.  For the record I will be saying that a lot about the food in NYC.  Everywhere we went, the food was amazing.  I had looked for a few restaraunts before we left and made some reservations, others I just wrote down for ideas, and some we just happened upon while walking around.  The only rule we had was we wen't going to go any place that we could go to in Vegas.  When we come back - we will definately be hitting up the place again.

At about midnight we headed back to our hotel, we each crawled into our own double beds, and slept like babies...Why is it that traveling (sitting around ALL day) makes you so tired?!

  1. sounds like you guys had a good time minus the travel issues and the beds lol i can't believe you slept in separate beds... jim and i probably would have squeezed into one full sized bed for like 2 years we shared a twin sized bed in college lol
