NYC - Day 4
If you ever travel with Brian and I, you'll notice that we HATE to stay at the hotel. We get up in the morning, and don't come back all day!
This day, we had breakfast at the hotel, then headed to Rockefeller Center. The rainbow room is closed right now, so we didn't get to see it, but we went to The Top of the Rock. Our pedicab driver suggested it instead of going to the Empire State Building because the lines are shorter, and there is a much better view.
We thought about getting ice skates, but decided against it. The rink was almost empty though.
On the way back to the hotel, we walked down 5th Ave so I could look at the window displays...I was not impressed. I was expecting much more...the only one that was really awesome was Anthropology's (and they aren't even really on 5th Ave.) All the "flowers" are plastic water bottles that have been painted and cut up...they looked very cool in person.
We did stop at the American Girl Store on 5th Ave to pick some things up for the girls...My hands were full of tons of boxes, so I didn't get any pictures...Brian got video for Al and Ellie though! I think I ended up spending over $200 in that stinkin store and there was so much more I wanted to get! I gave them each a little dog and carrier when we got home, but the rest Im saving for Easter and their birthday.
We quickly stopped back at our hotel to change clothes before going to The Ed Sullivan Theater to pick up our tickets to the David Letterman show...we waited in line and heard a bunch of rules, then they marked our tickets and told us to come back in a hour.
So we walked over to Crumbs Bakshop because Brian always hears Howard Stern talk about how great their cupcakes are. Brian got an "Arty" cupcake and I got "death by chocolate". They were pretty good! We took them to the Starbucks across the street and ate them with some coffee.
Then we went over to M&M World to look around...I wanted to get Alison a little pad of paper since we couldn't find one at the M&M World here in Vegas...they only had some with names on it and 'Alison' was spelled with 2 l's so we didn't get it.
Across the street was a giant Herseys store...had to stop in and look!
We then headed back to The Letterman show...listened to some more rules (no cameras at all allowed in the theater) and watched the most boring Letterman Show ever...It was Mitt Romney. He has NO personality at all. But, I guess he has some new book out that he was promoting. (that I won't be reading!)
After that show, we walked a fewblocks over to go to an early 'dinner' at Maxie's diner. Huge portions, and a huge huge huge menu...I think they sold everything there!
Then it was time to go see my favorite musical EVER...Wicked!
Brian wasn't as impressed as me, but he said it was good. He isn't a big musical fan, but goes for my sake ;o)
Dinner was at Salumeria Rosi - I found it from that TV show "Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the Food Network. (If you go to the link, there is a clip form the show)
It was a tiny tiny place and the owner, the chef from the 4 seasons, and their wine dealers were all there eating, so it was kind of a party atmosphere...but all in Italian, so we didn't understand anything! They were doing a lot of laughing and singing though!
The restaraunt serves everything tapas style, so we ordered a sampler platter of meat and one of cheese and then 3-4 other dishes. It was interesting because we had never eaten that kind of meal, but not our style.

sorry about lettermen! What a bummer. I am so excited for you that you got to go see WICKED!!! Brian's a good sport:)
